Frequently asked questions about staying in Zarautz

Everything people ask when looking for an apartment in Zarautz: which area to stay in, how much it costs, what parking is like in summer, how to get here without a car, and what our beachfront apartments include.

Staying in Zarautz

Where should I stay in Zarautz? Which is the best area?

The best area to stay in Zarautz is the centre, between the seafront promenade and the old town: from there you can walk to the beach, to the pintxo bars and to the Euskotren station, and you don't need a car. Apartamentos Dada is at Balea Kalea, 4, a one-minute walk from the sand and 350 m from the market, right inside that area.

How much does it cost to rent an apartment in Zarautz?

Holiday apartments in Zarautz start at around €65 per night in low season and rise noticeably between June and September, when the town fills up. At Apartamentos Dada prices start at €65 per night for the 2-guest apartment and €95 for the ones sleeping up to 4, VAT included and with no commission if you book directly.

Is an apartment or a hotel better in Zarautz?

For families, groups and stays of several days an apartment usually works out better: you get a fully equipped kitchen so you don't have to eat out every meal, more space for the same money, and no fixed schedules. A hotel makes more sense for a single night with breakfast and daily cleaning. Our three apartments are 20 to 35 m², on the ground floor and facing the beach.

When is the best time to visit Zarautz?

July and August are the beach and nightlife months, but also the busiest and most expensive. May, June and September are the best balance: good weather, mild sea and a quiet town. For surfing, autumn and winter bring the best waves, and Zarautz works all year round thanks to its food scene and the trips along the coast.

Can you find parking in Zarautz in summer?

Parking in central Zarautz in July and August is difficult: almost everything around the beach is paid street parking (OTA blue zone) or a paying car park. The usual free alternative is the car park at the Asti sports area, at the entrance to town, with a shuttle bus to the beach in high season. We lend our guests a resident permit that lets you leave the car in the regulated zone without paying the meter, at no extra cost. We only have one, so it goes on a first-come basis: ask us for it when you book.

Can you get to Zarautz without a car?

Yes, and it's one of the advantages of Zarautz. The Euskotren station connects with San Sebastián and Bilbao with frequent trains, and there are bus lines to Getaria, Zumaia and the rest of the coast. Our apartments are 400 m from the train station, so you can arrive and get around for the whole trip on foot and by public transport.

Is Zarautz a good place to learn to surf?

Yes. Zarautz is one of the surf capitals of the Bay of Biscay: 2.5 km of open beach, consistent waves and several surf schools running beginner courses and renting gear. It's a classic spot for catching your first waves, and from our apartments you can walk to the shoreline with your board in a minute.

Is Zarautz a good destination with kids?

Yes. The beach is long and sandy with lifeguards in season, the promenade is flat and the whole centre is walkable. At Apartamentos Dada the cot and high chair are included at no extra cost, all three apartments are on the ground floor (no stairs, no lift) and two of them sleep up to 4 people.

Check-in and check-out

Our local team also takes care of anything you may need during your stay.

Can I arrive earlier or leave later?

Are the apartments suitable for travelling with a baby?

Yes. A cot and a high chair are included at no extra cost in any of the apartments, and as they're all on the ground floor you can walk straight in with the pushchair, with no stairs or lift. Let us know when booking so everything is ready when you arrive.

Are there wheelchair-accessible apartments in Zarautz?

Yes. Apartment 3 at Apartamentos Dada is adapted for wheelchair users, with an accessible shower and step-free ground-floor access, and it's a one-minute walk from Zarautz beach and its seafront promenade, which is flat along its whole length.

Parking and location

Do the apartments have parking?

We don't have a private garage, but we do lend a resident permit that lets you leave the car in the regulated zone without paying the meter. It comes with the booking, at no cost: we only have one, so it goes on a first-come basis. Tell us when you book and we'll confirm whether it's free for those dates; if it isn't, the easiest alternative is the free Asti car park at the entrance to Zarautz.

Are there beachfront apartments in Zarautz?
